1. from this book i have felt like i was right there with Elie because he described everything so well.I  have learned a lot more about the cruelty and the awe fullness that the Jews have been treated with. Also having to go through with such tragic changes and events has made people stop believing in god and they ended up loosing all faith in him, "is there a god?" people started questioning, they just couldn't believe this was all happening.

2. If Elie were to come here to Thomas More he would tell us to make sure that antisemitism never ever happens here. i feel he would tell us to never feel hatred to others, and to never even say the word hate because having  hatred against others will cause what has happened to Elie and all of the Jews. He would say using hate and revenge doesn't get you anywhere. everything that had happened to him just had made him stronger.
***my theme of this story is: " No matter how hard life gets, just keep going." because seeing all of the hardships that Elie has had along the way to being free, he still kept pushing on and never giving up.

1.I think i wouldn't be able to kill the man but if him dying protects the rest of the group then him dying would have a better outcome.

2.well i think that killing a child is terrible because its just like abortion but killing the mother and the child isn't any better, so i would just kill the child. So the mother went through the whole labor just to be killed its almost not right. i also think the mother should stay alive because she may end up being a survivor.

3. No he shouldn't leave his son, because he's basically just giving up on his son, i don't think its right at all considering they both need each other.

THE LOTTERY

In Shirley Jackson's short story, "The Lottery", irony is portrayed through the community event of the lottery. As the reader begins to read the story, they assume the lottery is something that is celebrated, but as the story progresses, the reader realizes that the lottery is nothing but a death sentence. In the beginning of the story, the setting sets the mood of a perfect summer's day. The first sentence states, " The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day, the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green" (1) When people think of summer, they think of happy, joyful, good times. This makes the reader think that there will be no harm done and the results of the lottery will be something positive and good. As the reader gets more in depth into the story, he or she will realize that the lottery is really negative and bad: a death sentence. After everyone had picked a piece of paper out of the black box, they began to look around the crowd to see who had "won" the lottery. Bill Hutchinson was standing back quietly, staring down at the death sentence in his hand. Tessie Hutchinson started yelling at Mr. Summer's, saying "You didn't give him enough time to take the paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn't fair!" (6) Since Tessie had "won", she finally came to the realization that the lottery wasn't fair and that it wasn't a good thing only because it was happening to her. That shows that winning the lottery isn't a good thing at all.

Mrs. Hutchinson was stoned to death because she won the lottery. There was no reason given to why this happend. Mrs. Hutchinson comes to the ralization that it's not fair, because at last, she was being the one stoned.

I do not think we process information to fast, i think we apply the information to fast and dont realize what we're doing. It makes life easier but because we do that we become lazy and end up doing things wrong.
Plot: ~Walked out of sight of the village and waited for a sign from the Gods on a rock, ~Went east following a white fawn, Through the forest and past the forest people, ~Walked the god roads and came to the banks of the great river,~ crossed the river to the Place of the Gods, ~Went north in the Place of the Gods, went into the great temple in the middle of the city,~ north toward dead houses, ~went inside a dead house, ~entered a dead room, slept in front of the fire, ~When back to his home in the hills.

The yellow sheet of paper was full of facts, quotations and figures that he needed for work. Tom retrieves the paper by climbing out of the window, onto the side of the building.

Commentary:
The society was definitely not  equal at all because Diana, the Handicapper General, had a loaded gun and no handicap like the rest of the people that need one. It takes knowledge to be able to load a gun and aim it correctly. She has more power then the rest of the people.

Commentary: the society is not as equal as the people make it out to be. Diana is higher than the other people, just because she's the general Diana has no handicaps at all, shes the one that gives them to the other people. she threatens people who take them off. But they wanted them all to be the same then they would have given them all of the same handicaps.

My short summary:

Tom was addicted to his work all of his life and neglected his wife because of it. he lost his yellow sheet of paper because it blew out of the window. he thought it was necessary to go retrieve the piece of paper, so he climbed a building and risked his life. He was hanging on the building scared for life. He had to smash a window to get back into the house. the experience made him realize that his wife was more important. so he went to find her and he only weighed the piece of paper down with a pencil and it blew away again.

If I had six months to live i would live life to the fullest. I would travel all over the world to so many different countries. I would go skydiving and parasailing. I'd go bungee jumping off of the tallest bridge and also would go cliff diving from the tallest cliff. I would spend ALL of my money on things i've wanted. i just would want to have the most fun possible.
